Residents at Lawnfield Care Home in Willesden were treated to a heart-warming musical performance as members of the Songs of Joy Dementia Choir filled the home with familiar songs, smiles and laughter.
The choir, made up of people living with dementia and their carers, delivered an uplifting programme of well-loved classics including fly me to the moon and their own musical medleys that had residents singing along, clapping to the rhythm and sharing treasured memories. Music has a unique way of reaching people living with dementia, often evoking memories and emotions that words alone cannot, while encouraging social connection and improving wellbeing.
For choir members, performing at Lawnfield Care Home was another opportunity to share their talents, build confidence and demonstrate the positive impact that creativity and community can have on life with dementia.
A huge thank you goes to the team at Lawnfield Care Home for their warm welcome and refreshments served in the beautiful garden . We are incredibly proud of our Songs of Joy Dementia Choir for continuing to spread happiness, reduce stigma around dementia and show that, through music, meaningful moments can be created and shared by all.
We look forward to returning to Lawnfield Care Home again soon for another afternoon filled with songs, smiles and memories.
