Final Dementia Conversation of 2021 ends with promises from statutory agencies and the dementia community to work more closely together to continue our journey towards a dementia friendly Brent. A full report of our 2021 Dementia Conversations will be available soon.
Working together towards a dementia friendly Brent: September is Alzheimer’s Awareness month and to mark the occasion we ended our series of Dementia Conversations with a conversation with representatives from Brent Council Adult Social Services and NHS North West London Clinical Commissioning Group. People living with dementia and carers, supported by volunteers from CADBrent spoke about their concerns and offered solutions to the unnecessary barriers they face every day in being able to live as normal a life as possible e.g. lack of support after a diagnosis, poverty of information on what is available in the community, poor access and poor quality support from GPs, and an overwhelming sense of being unconsidered. We all agreed that this final conversation will be the beginning of closer working between the dementia community and statutory partners so that we can truly claim Brent is a dementia friendly borough.
