Over 60 Brent residents enjoyed a lovely winter lunch this week at Chalkhill Community Centre courtesy of CAD-Brent – Community Action on Dementia – and Brent Council. People living with dementia, carers, volunteers and staff from our partner agencies enjoyed a fun morning of singing, dance & movement, and performances by our special guests, His Worshipful the Mayor of Brent, Cllr: Abdi Aden, Dr Abhishek Shastri, Consultant Psychiatrist from Brent Memory Services as well as a special appearance by Shaun Wallace of The Chase fame and much else besides. Shaun shared his story of family members living with dementia and wished CAD-Brent well in its endeavours to become a dementia friendly borough. His Worshipful the Mayor as usual was very supportive of our work and wished everyone well for 2023. We also took the opportunity to talk about our New Year resolutions – bit early I know – and focused on what changes would make life easier for carers and people living with dementia. We will have a summary of these available soon.
