Community Action on Dementia – Brent marked a powerful milestone this week, celebrating ten years of impact with a lively gathering at Chalkhill Community Centre. Chair Danny Maher reflected on the grim reality of 2015, when a dementia diagnosis often meant being left to navigate the journey alone—no structured support, no clear path forward. But through sheer determination and the relentless efforts of individuals from all corners of the community, Brent has transformed into a beacon of dementia-friendly care.
Today, CADBrent stands as a lifeline, delivering 18 dementia cafés across the borough—safe spaces where connection and care replace isolation. An expert information and advice team now helps families break through the barriers of complex statutory and health services, ensuring no one is left to struggle in silence.
In a decade, CADBrent has woven a vital support network for PLWD and their carers. As an independent, non-statutory funded charity, its mission is unwavering: to build a borough where every person affected by dementia is valued, empowered, and embraced—because dignity and support should never be optional.
